How to Meet People Online – Getting a Reply to Your Introduction Message

By: Pal Factor

The Internet has opened up many opportunities and one of those is to network with people from all over the world and make pen pals, new friends and even find a soul mate. The modern online dating site will allow you to register and create your personal profile with a photo so other people can search and find you. When people find your profile interesting they can send you a private message.

The big question that a lot of people using online dating sites ask is why people will not reply to their messages. There are a number of reasons for this. One reason is the person you are writing to was not interested in online dating anymore and has not bothered to reply. Another reason is the person you are writing to has found a soul mate and is not responding to any further messages. There are a lot of reasons why you may not receive a reply but it is important not to get upset about it and keep writing to people that look interesting to you and eventually somebody will find you interesting too.

Everybody is different and people you have never met can be hard to predict but there are some things you can do to help give your online dating site introduction message more weight with people you are witting to.

1. Make sure you have a nice photo of you in your profile. This is the first thing most people will look for.
2. Make sure you fill in your profile completely. Leaving blank can make it look like you don’t care if anybody writes to you or not.
3. Write an introduction letter that introduces you and who you are and what you like to do. Do not make it too long, two paragraphs will be enough.
4. When you send your message to people you would like to get to know, make sure you address it to their username and include references to things in their profile you have in common. Sending exactly the same message to everybody is a quick and easy way to reach a lot of people but messages address to Dear Sir or similar can get you blocked and these messages often go ignored.
5. Be positive. Avoid mentioning negative issues in your life such as your recent divorce or unemployment. Focus on showing the recipient of your introduction message the good things about your personality.

There is no guarantee you will get a response from everybody you write to, but if you make your introduction message personal and honest you can increase the chances of getting a response from somebody genuinely interesting in knowing more about you.
