The earthly trouble called ‘Japanese Knotweed’

The Japanese knotweed is the most harmful plant amongst the most invasive of plants in the UK, and expensive of all weeds, and is disliked by gardeners throughout the country. The problem with this knotweed plant is that a whole new weed can stem back from even the tiniest segments like from a section as tiny as your fingernail left in the ground is able to cultivate again wholly. Cut stems can easily develop in lawns, soil or even in water. In spring, this plant will appear and quickly turn into a plant that has a height of around three meters.

Therefore, what you can do to this Japanese knotweed is that over an extensive period of time you can continually and severely cut back and dig out the plant and its root system. Even though it is hard to get rid of all of the plant, over a considerable time period it is possible to deteriorate the plant so much that it becomes less of a nuisance. It is advisable to not compost the plant, and not to remove or relocate the cut sections to another site. Burning is the best solution to remove the waste sections, where permitted. You must also make sure that rain water does not sweep away your cut sections or roots because this is observed as a deliberate expansion of the knotweed.

Japanese Knotweed blossoms perfectly on land that has been used up by human activity. For example, a plot of land, which is being recently emptied for construction purpose, is an ideal thriving ground for this plant. Japanese Knotweed Removal is not simple and takes an industrious effort from any individual who wants to liberate their yard or area from this invasive plant.

Cutting the plant to pieces is not very good solution to the Japanese Knotweed Control, because it will always rise up again due to its potency and huge network of roots. Also, placing concrete over an area where there has been Japanese Knotweed development is futile. They are tough and they will grow from any tiny fissure and wipe out newly laid concretes. Even rooting and burning sometimes, is an effort that goes in vain. The only way to destroy Japanese Knotweed is using the technique of multi-pronged attack for a prolonged period of time.

One method of curbing the growth of the Japanese Knotweed is by covering the area with a number of large plastic tarps, where it has been noticed initially. This will put an instant curb on its expansion as the tarp will overpower the knotweed and refrain it from growing and expanding. The second method of attack is focused on weed killers. Some of the trusted names in weed killers that are effective on Japanese Knotweed are Round-Up, Gallup and Landmaster. The third method is slashing the plant back all through the season and then injecting the stumps with weed killer.

Similarly you can also curb the growth of the Giant Hogweed and the Himalayan Balsam. There is no definite way for Japanese Knotweed control from an area. Different types of eradication techniques have to be used in combination with one another and if followed persistently, will surely be successful in the end.
