VOIP Free Training Vs Paid VOIP Training - What Should I Enroll For?

By: Mike Singh

VoIp, or Voice over Internet Protocol is a communication service that allows phone communication over your internet connection using ISP technology. It is used in small and large business as well as on personal computers at home. Since it is a relatively new technology attending a VOIP training seminar will help you navigate the technical jargon and buzzwords.

Depending on your location there may be several companies and institutes offering VoIP training. There are some companies that offer online courses or courses by CD or DVD with live support through phone or internet. These courses are ideal for individuals who cannot travel or live away from larger centers.

When choosing a VoIP training it is important to answer the following questions:

* How much time do you have to attend the course? VoIP training programs vary in length from an afternoon seminar to two or three days.

* What level of information do you need? If you just would like to get an overview of the technology and understand the jargon words the afternoon seminar is probably sufficient. If you are a networking or IT specialist for your company or small business you would probably want to choose the longer seminars.

* How far do you want to travel? This can be time and cost restricting.

* How much to you want to spend? In person seminars and workshops are generally more expensive than the online or CD courses.

* Do you learn best by seeing, hearing and experimenting or do you learn best by reading and figuring it out yourself?

If you do decide to attend a paid training program. Have a look at the following list of choices:

* Teracom Training Institute offers VoIP training by seminar, CD, online or ebook format. They provide training in Canada and the United States.

* TrainingCity offers a two-day seminar across North America, and will also provide consulting.

* GBdirect provides a five-day instructor led seminar on VoIP training. The focus is on using Cisco tools and products to customize networks and specific needs. GBdirect is located in the United Kingdom.

* VoIPTrainer is an interactive training model that uses online, CD and intranet training and reference modules. It is available for your specific VoIP device. This training is available worldwide.

* LEVER Technology group offers training in the United Kingdom. They have regularly scheduled three-day VoIP training schedules and will also customize training for individual businesses.

This list is a good start but it is by no means meant to be exhaustive. With the rapid growth of VOIP, you can expect additional centers to offer VOIP training.
