When Should You Use Postcards?

By: charen smith

You may have heard of the many benefits of including postcards in your marketing campaign. Postcards increase results, have lower cost, and are easy to create - or so you've heard. If you do not seem to be experiencing these benefits, you may not be using postcard printing correctly. Postcards have a simple purpose and design which when followed will bring the results you need.

The rule for postcard use is to send them only to prospective clients. Because postcards do not have to be opened, they have a high success rate for gaining customers. You do not need to create a postcard when an existing client asks for more information. An envelope containing the desired literature will do. Keep in mind that postcards are a printed version of a cold call. They weed through those who are not interested or simply do not need what you are offering, just like with phone calls or newspaper ads, except that postcard printing and postcard mailing has a much lower cost than other advertisements.

To effectively build a client base, a postcard needs to include a headline along with information on how to take the next step. A powerful headline will make an offer that no one else is making. Be sure that your call to action clearly tells prospects what you want them to do. For instance, tell them to visit a website for more information or call a number for a free tour.

So remember to save postcard marketing for gaining new clients. This way, you will make the most out of your low-cost tool for expanding test your company.
