Why Print Your Contact Information in More than Just Your Business Card

By: Terry de Guia

Propagating your business contact information shouldn’t be limited to business card printing. Just think about everything that leaves your store, and the opportunities you missed letting any item from your store go out into the world without a tag.

Paying a little extra to print business cards for your staff, labels for your packaging material, gift tags for your packages, and printing your contact info on your paper bags, can go a long way in building a brand for your business.

Here are a few of the things getting your name out can do for your business.

1. It’s a cheap and easy referral.

With all the purchases consumers have to make, most of them would rather just trust the judgment of another person instead of go through the tedious process of analyzing the quality of the products themselves.

When you get your name in every item that comes out of your business, it will land on office tables, kitchen tables, and can associate the buyer with you. It’s a silent word-of-mouth where people simply have a quiet understanding that your store is the acceptable norm to purchase such products or services.

In most cases people choose their service providers or purchase their goods from the most convenient place available even when they are not necessarily the most qualified. The availability of your contact information makes it easier for your customer to pick up the phone and make that call, or lets him find out you have a branch closer by, or that you have delivery services.

2. Leads prospects to your doors.

It’s all about timing. Part of advertising is priming up your customers to want your products, and be conveniently available when they’re ready to make the purchases. You won’t know when a person will require of your services, and when they do, it’s best that you have your contact information handy. It may sound too serendipitous to be believable, but then again almost everything is.

Tell people where they are so they can find you more easily. Your customers can act as catalyst, carrying around items with your contact information and landing them in places your other marketing materials won’t reach. The more contact information you have in the open, the more chances there are that a potential customer will find it.

3. Create name recall

Name recall is a very powerful way to influence your customers purchasing decisions. It’s a pairing system wherein a person who sees two ideas together often enough he creates a subliminal association between them. This is why billions are spent on brand building every year.

Advertising is a normative process that requires an idea or a concept to be repeated often enough to be accepted. Include visual clues with your printing, use the logo as the face to associate your name with. These visual clues aids in the formation of these important associations.

Make sure every aspect of your marketing plan targets propagating your information, from your business card printing down to the last envelope and invoice.
